Insurance

We americans have a big problem(besides Bush!)We need affordable insurance. We give all the Goverment officals great insurance, they even have free long-term healthcoverage(Nursing home stuff) but the average american has little or no insurance and those that do have sky high payment premiums. Yet our public offials get their great coverage for free from the taxpayers!
If we spent alittle less elsewhere we could afford to feed and insure us all! emoticon

Re: Insurance

I didn't realise it was such a probem in the States. I know that health insurance seems to be tied to a job and is very expensive but I didn't know that other was the same. There would very few Aussie companies that pay health insurance. It is almost exclusively privately paid. And it is expensive. Thats on top of the Medicare levy which we pay with our taxes. That was supposed to provide free health care for all. Fat chance! It pays a small percentage of your bills and if you have private health cover it pays even less. Go figure. You paymore to receive less. It does provide health care for the poor but waiting lists for hospital procedures are 2 to 3 years. So people die waiting to get their operation scheduled.
