.... and yet in all the payrolls that I've prepared over the years Monday is by far and away the most common day for a "sickie" to be taken.

Re: Tell us about your day

What a day. I've had a sort of blister right on the tip of my tongue for a couple of months and my GP wanted a specialist to look at it. Today they rang up saying they had a cancellation. I took the appointment as otherwise I still had two months to wait before my appointment was due.
The doc took one look at it and said it was something with an impossible latin name and it would be there for life unless they removed it. Seeing as he was going to biopsy it anyway I said ok let's get rid of it. He asked if I wanted to be booked into the hospital or he could do it in his surgery. Naturally I chose the latter, Mistake No 1.

He pulled out this huge needle that I'm use they use on horses and holding my tongue tightly forced this needle so far into my tongue I'm sure he was trying to see if it came out at the back of my head. Seeing my hands grasping his table so tightly I was going to pull it apart he remarked. "It's really painful isn't it." That helped....not
Then he proceeds to cut a bloody great hole in my tongue. Every time I thought he had finished he would say "There's another little bit, I'll just get that too." When he had finally done I tried to make a break for it but some sneaky nurse grabbed my shoulders and threw me back on the table. "We can't have you go out bleeding like that," she said, "you'll scare all the patients." So I had another ten minutes, going on two hours, while they poked and prodded and coated this with that and so on.
"I'll have the results of the biposy in about a week" he said as I staggered out. Then the recptionist asked if I wanted to make my follow-up appointment then. "Not bloody likely" I replied heading for the door, actually it was more like "no thuddy ikely."
Anyway it is now some hours later and the anaesthetic has worn off. If I thought the injection was painful, I was way off the mark.
And I wonder why I hate Mondays.

ouch!! I'm sorry you have had trouble. No good! I hope tonight you are feeling abit better. The main question I have is that did you get some pain medicine for it? Because if not double ouch! I tend to be into natural medicine and if I can I go that way first. Sometimes when things grow on our skin(in or out of us) we have things that need to leave us and cleanses can help.
I wish you the best healing Gruffy! Keep it clean!( which is hard in the mouth area). emoticon Take-care!
Cathy

Thanks Cathy. It is still pretty sore and I'm drinking through a straw. I have been alternating between paracetemol and ibuprofen every 2 hours and that helps. Nevertheless I guess that now that it's over I'm glad I had it done.

It has been a warm Sunday in Perth (for Spring) Temp was around 30 celcius and the sky was blue and the breeze soft and gentle. I'll try to hang on to that image as we are having storms tomorrow; emoticon

Thanks Sas. It is improving every day. I have no feeling in the tip of my tongue which is a little disconcerting, but its a heck of a lot less painful now.
