Re: Tell us about your day
Glad to hear it Gruffy
Today was my last day at work for just over a week. I am off to Edinburgh in the morning, I have an astrology seminar to chair on Saturday, then I plan to chill and enjoy myself for a couple of days. I'll be back late tuesday

Re: Tell us about your day
Thanks for the great pics Sas. Edinburgh sure has a lot of roofs :-)
The castle is very imposing and the city, with its dark brick and stone, looks very Dickensian. Reminds me of Greyfriar's Bobby.
The Time gun and ball is like a similar one we have in Fremantle. It's at The Round House which is the oldest surviving building in the city. The mast with the ball and the cannon shot were used for ships waiting to dock to set their chronometers.
You can see the mast on this picture of the Round House. This aspect doesn't show how tall it is but is on the top of a cliff face on the ocean side of the building.

Re: Tell us about your day
there was a time canon exhibition at the castle gruffy, listed all the time cannons around the world.
Because of the rocky terrain Edinburgh couldn't expand outwards very far, so they expanded upwards. Have a look at Mary Kings Close it's a whole ream of streets beneath the Royal Mile

Re: Tell us about your day
How fascinating. I really wish I could do the tour of Mary King's Close. Reminds me a bit of Charles' catacombs in Newford.

Re: Tell us about your day
As predicted, Australia now has a left-wing government. Now for rising inflation, taxes, interest rates and unemployment. Outside bet - Australia to declare itself a province of China within the next decade.
